Car Safety
Car safety goes a lot further than the simple use of car seats for a baby and seat belts for older children and adults. Of course, proper restraint systems while driving are an integral aspect of staying secure within a car. A child should start with a rear facing seat until about age one, when he or she can be moved to a forward facing one. After this, a booster seat should be used until about age eight.
Seats and seat belts are an important part of car safety because they prevent a person's body from being thrown out of the vehicle or hard against and vehicle surface. Another important aspect is to prevent anything from hitting against passengers. For that reason, it is important to secure heavy items in compartments or snug under seats.
Overriding window and lock commands are also important features of child car safety. These prevent kids from opening doors or windows during travel. With proper use of seats and seatbelts, these locks should prevent annoyances more than perform necessary safety functions.
A final aspect of car safety is to keep a first aid kit within the vehicle. Along with first aid supplies, blankets, snacks, water bottles, and jumper cables are a few other things to keep on hand.
