Baby Safety FAQs
What is Isofix?
Isofix is a standard related to attachment points with a vehicle for car seats. In the United States, this is known as Lower Anchors and Tethers of Children, or LATCH. In the U.S., vehicles created since September 2002 are required to have the proper attachments available.
Are car seats designed with tethers still capable of being used with seat belts?
Yes. Those with older vehicles will still be able to use new car seats. These new versions have spaces for seatbelt insertion in addition to the lower anchors and upper tether.
How long should safety gates be used?
It is wise to start using the gates early enough that a child views them as a natural part of his or her environment. This will discourage the child from trying to circumvent them. Most manufacturers recommend that you stop using gates around age two to two and half. This is about the time a child will begin to figure out ways around the gate, which can be very endangering.
